What advice would you give to someone nervous about trying yoga for the first time? "Remember everyone was new once. Every yogi, no matter how experienced, started as a beginner. There's no expectation to be "good" ----- it's a practice, not a performance. As well, yoga isn't about a perfect pose or flexibility; it's about breathing, moving with awareness, and connecting with yourself."
Who inspires you in your wellness journey? "The person who inspires me most in my wellness journey is "Myself." Ultimately, I am the one who makes the choices, shows up consistently, and takes responsibility for my own growth and well-being."
What’s your favorite post-class snack or meal? "Acai Bowl from Better Blends. I think I might have a problem."
If your yoga mat could talk, what would it say about you? "Be gentle and kind to yourself. This is your journey and practice; there is no need to compare yourself to others."
What’s the most unusual place you’ve ever practiced yoga? "For me, it was in the forest—surrounded by trees, breathing with nature, and feeling deeply grounded."
Which yoga pose best describes your personality? "For me, it’s Warrior II—it reminds me of the strength I’ve gained and encourages me to keep my gaze forward toward the future, not back at the past."
If you could teach a yoga class anywhere in the world, where would it be? My dream place to teach yoga? "Near a waterfall, surrounded by forest, grounded in nature, with the soothing rhythm of water as our soundtrack. I love being in nature, it allows me to disconnect from the busy world."
You’re stuck on a desert island -what 3 things are you bringing (besides a yoga mat)? "If I were stuck on a desert island, I’d bring Chapstick, my Bible, and most importantly, my family—the ones I love most."
Do you have a favorite yoga pose? "My favorite yoga pose is Savasana—it's a reminder to surrender, release and simply be in stillness where body, mind, and breath come into harmony."
Do you have a yoga pose you secretly dislike? "I wouldn’t say I have a least favorite pose, though headstands always keep me on my toes—they’re both fun and tricky!"
If someone could only do one yoga pose every day, which one would you recommend and why? "If someone could only do one yoga pose every day, I’d actually recommend two: Child’s Pose and Savasana. Both encourage you to turn inward, be still, and reflect. In our busy world, we often feel we must always be doing something to be productive, but these poses remind us that rest, presence, and quiet reflection are just as important."
